Tesla Opens Its 1st C-Stores
 In its most direct challenge to the convenience-store industry to date, electric-car maker Tesla has built two 40-stall Supercharger stations in Kettleman City and Baker, Calif. According to Tesla-focused online news source Teslarati, the stations are meant to serve as members-only lounges so families traveling between Los Angeles, San Francisco or Las Vegas have a comfortable place to wait while their vehicle charges. Tesla’s members-only lounge could be a preview of what the electric-charging c-stores of tomorrow might look like and the sort of competition existing c-stores might expect from Tesla in the future. How N.J.'s newest convenience store Royal Farms stacks up to Wawa
Royal Farms, a new Baltimore-based convenience store chain, has set up shop just down the road in South Jersey from the established pound-for-pound area leader Wawa. The head-to-head competition appears to foreshadow what the challenger has in mind for the future. Royal Farms plans to open five more stores in South Jersey over the next 18 months. With about 185 stores, mostly in the mid-Atlantic, Royal Farms is not within sniffing distance of Wawa's more than 1,000 along the East Coast from New York to Florida.  But the upstart offers intriguing menu items, such as fried chicken, on and off the bone and in salads and sandwiches, along with standard convenience fare, such as tobacco, money orders and lottery, as well as value-priced fuel.  Click above for a snapshot of how Royal Farms compares to Wawa in areas such as coffee and sandwiches.

After Debit Card Fee Reform, It’s Time to Focus on Credit Cards
Seven years ago, Congress decided the big banks were ripping off merchants and consumers on debit cards. Members introduced some old-fashioned competition to make this business fairer and your prices lower. And recently, over the protests of the big banks, Congress reaffirmed its commitment to keep debit card fees fairer and more competitive for merchants and consumers. Now, you wouldn’t start building a two-story house and stop after only one story. You wouldn’t have only half a suit dry cleaned. So it’s fair to ask: Now that everyone (but the banks) agrees debit cards needed fixing and have benefited from reform, when will some fairness and competition come to credit cards?  Every time these swipe fees come up, the banks spew a smokescreen of disinformation, fearful of losing the tens of billions of dollars they’re gouging from small merchants and consumers. Another Way to Save on Your Energy Bills

We have had a number of NJGCA members successfully reduce their rate per kWh signing up through our energy saving program. We know it's difficult to collect 12 months worth of previous electric bills to get an "accurate" analysis when comparing a variable rate to a fixed rate, but we now have another option available. 

This new solution is a power purchase option; the other program is still in full force and has saved members thousands of dollars. If you sign up for the power purchase option, you will be grouped with other NJGCA members until the minimum kW demand is acquired. By pooling the member's usage together, you will be able to take advantage, as large energy users do, and receive a lower kWh rate.

Each member will receive their own contract. Each member is responsible to sign and return the agreement the day it is received in order to secure the price for their group.

Please do your due diligence, so when you receive the proposal and the agreement you will be able to make an intelligent decision.

If by chance, you still want us to assess you bills, to give you a price to compare, we will require 12 months of your most recent utility bills.

There are no bills required, but we would still like to have one bill per meter on file to check account #'s, meter #'s  service addresses and other pertinent information incase there is a problem.

The term of the agreement is for 12 months. During this term period, you will have price protection against any energy price increases along with a low fixed kWh rate.

Remember when you sign up your energy through the NJGCA Energy Program, TMP makes a considerable donation to the NJGCA Scholarship Fund through their proceeds. This has no affect on your rate, and costs you nothing out of pocket.

We hope to help hundreds of NJGCA members reduce their utility costs by participating in this and our other cost reduction programs.  Our purpose, in the endeavor, is to help NJGCA members lower their energy costs while supporting the NJGCA Scholarship Fund.
