New Pay Transparency Law signed, Effective June 1st

Recently Gov. Murphy signed into law a new bill that will affect how you can advertise for open job positions. These requirements will apply to businesses with 10 or more employees. Employers will be required to include in job postings the wage or salary range and a general description of benefits and other compensation. Failure to include this info would result in a $300 first offense fine. Its worth noting that when the bill was introduced, it was a $1,000 first offense penalty and $10,000 second offense penalty, and every individual job posting on every individual website would have been a separate offense an employer could be fined for. Thankfully, the business community in Trenton were able to convince the sponsors to soften the language. The requirement takes effect on June 1, 2025. Contact Eric@njgca.org with any questions. 

Webinar on LSRP and site remediation changes

You may be interested in an upcoming webinar being hosted by our friends at the Fuel Merchants Association (FMA), which represents fuel and heating oil distributors in the state. NJ DEP has recently proposed changes to the regulations governing the remediation of contaminated sites. Included in the proposal are changes to the remediation permitting process for vapor intrusion and classification exception areas (passive groundwater remediation), as well as a new procedure related to endangered species habitat. FMA has been kind enough to invite retailers, as well as LSRPs to join their webinar to discuss these proposed changes. It will be this Tuesday December 3rd at 10am. You can register HERE. 

Reminder: EVR ACO Deadline on Sunday December 1

In case you missed it, if you have a gas station that is not currently in compliance with the EVR mandate, make sure to read this special alert we sent out last week by clicking HERE. 

Basically, while the deadline to be in compliance remains December 23rd, the DEP is willing to make some accommodations for stations that will not have their equipment installed in time, but because of the logistics for them of creating those “administrative consent orders”, you will need to have your request in by December 1st. Even if you are scheduled to have your upgrades done between now and 12/23, it may be worth your time to reach out for an ACO just in case. If your contractor suddenly gets delayed and you wind up missing the deadline, even by just a few weeks, DEP has made clear they are not willing to hear any excuses or show any mercy.
