Every year we at NJGCA assemble a Voter Guide in advance of the November election. With more people ever voting in advance of Election Day (400,000 NJ votes cast so far!), we wanted to make sure it was in your hands as soon as possible. Minimum Wage Increase for January 1st

As per NJ law, which increases the minimum wage based on inflation, effective January 1, 2025 the minimum wage will be $15.49 an hour, up from the current $15.13. For seasonal and small businesses, the rate increases to $14.53, from the current $13.73. Small businesses in this law are defined as less than 6 employees and seasonal businesses are ones in which at least two-thirds of the business’s gross receipts were received in a continuous period of not more than 16 weeks.

Update: Hemp/Delta-8 Products Still Legal (for now)

Last week, we reminded c-stores of the effective date of New Jersey’s ban on intoxicating hemp products, including everything with Delta-8, Delta-9, and Delta-10, and anything with THC in it.  

However, at the last minute, a judge agreed with a challenge from some smoke shop owners to the law. At first it appeared the ban would still go into effect, but on Saturday morning the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) announced that they will not be enforcing the law, given the uncertainty from the ruling. That means these products can be sold for the time being, but not to anyone under the age of 21.
